Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and we are sure ideas as to what to do are running wild! The current climate is a confusing one; social distancing, not visiting elderly relatives, shops selling out of necessities. What can you do to celebrate this annual event, and show your mum/grandmother that you appreciate her? This blog will detail ideas of things that you can do as a family, but indoors. We will not be suggesting places to visit or events throughout the city, as we are abiding by the Government’s recommendations of social distancing and self-isolation.
A classic gesture, but one that will certainly not go unnoticed this Mother’s Day in Birmingham! Treat your mother to a relaxing breakfast, rather than the usual rush-before-work piece of toast. Partner the tray of food with a bunch of flowers, a coffee and her favourite tv show and you are certainly onto a winner!
Something which will take a joint effort, making your mum a homemade afternoon tea is definitely something which she will appreciate! Take time to decide which sweet treats you are going to include – Victoria Sponge, brownies, carrot and coffee cake – and which flavour sandwiches too. Arranging it with a variety of other snacks and teapot will make this an authentic experience we are sure she will enjoy. After all your hard work, sit down and enjoy what you have made! Even pop open a bottle of bubbly if you would like. This is a unique thing to do this Mother’s Day!
Choose your favourite photos from your phones and cameras, and collect them together to make a sentimental photobook/scrapbook that your mother is sure to love! A special thing to do this Mother’s Day, sit down with your mum or grandmother, and make the scrapbook together. You can then sit back and show off your creative masterpiece to everyone else once you are done! A quirky activity which everyone can get involved in.
If a quiet and relaxing day is more your mothers’ thing, this is just the suggestion! Open all of her favourite snacks, pile the sofa with pillows and blankets, and get comfortable for a day of down-time. Put on her favourite films or tv show, and enjoy each other’s company while treating her to the R&R that she most certainly deserves!
We hope you have enjoyed our indoor suggestions for things to do for Mother’s Day in Birmingham! There are a number of other things that you can choose from, but these were some of our favourites, and we hope they are favourites of yours too. Remember to look out for each other, and stay safe in these unprecedented times. For our previous blogs, click here, and come back soon for our next instalment; Easter in Birmingham!
